AFCOS network discussion

PrintMailRate-it

Representatives of Rödl & Partner Latvia participated in the AFCOS network discussion organized by the Ministry of Finance, sharing a lawyer's perspective on EU judicial practice in the application of financial corrections. The aim of the discussion was to strengthen understanding of the effective use of EU funds and the prevention of fraud.

Strengthening awareness of the effective use of ESI funds and fraud prevention Rödl & Partner Latvia took advantage of the opportunity provided by the Ministry of Finance to promote discussion within the AFCOS (European Union Anti-Fraud Coordination Service) Council network, which brings together national-level European Union financial interest protection institutions.

On October 16, 2025, the first discussion took place under the auspices of the Ministry of Finance, during which representatives of Rödl & Partner Latvia shared their perspective on current European Union judicial practice regarding the application of financial corrections to economic operators involved in the use of ESI funds, and the participants actively shared their experiences and views on the most pressing issues in the application of the law.

The next AFCOS discussion is scheduled for November 4, 2025, and will be devoted to issues related to ESI fund fraud, particularly aspects related to value added tax.

Rödl & Partner Latvia is represented in the AFCOS discussion by attorney-at-law Ilze Grinberga and senior tax consultant Marina Mihailova.

🟢 Open discussion among public sector institutions ensures uniform understanding and application of regulations, and we as lawyers are honored to draw the attention of the responsible authorities to aspects that are important to ESI fund recipients. Such cooperation promotes a deeper understanding of the issue and potentially reduces the likelihood of disputes in the future.

We would like to thank the Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Latvia and the members of the AFCOS network for providing a platform for open discussion and exchange of experience.
